Think what you want about the man behind "Spygate," but I think that his comments yesterday showed that the man does have some respect for the Colts.
When asked how he felt as the team prepared for this week's contest against the 0-11 Colts he said:
“What difference does it make? How somebody played two weeks go against somebody else,” Belichick said. “I mean, who cares? Us or anybody else. It doesn’t matter. The only thing that matters is how we and the Colts perform against each on Sunday. That’s all that matters. Who cares who won three weeks ago in some game with some other players? It doesn’t matter.”
Now you can chalk that up to having respect for the game of football as well (or instead of) as the Colts. This tells me that Belichick knows that the heart of a fighter--like the Colts have been for the last decade--doesn't go away after 11 games.
I'm not going to bother talking about the game just yet. I'm going to need another day or so to come up with a plausible scenario that isn't science fiction that has the Colts coming out on top (although the Force certainly would help...).
Thanks Bill; now just don't kick our behinds too bad come Sunday.
In other news, it looks like we should have an update on Peyton Manning anytime now. The franchise went in for a check up and got some more x-rays done to see how his neck is doing. Whenever we hear the results we should also find out the likelihood of him returning next season or at all.
