Peyton Manning and Jim Irsay Are Going to Play Nice

I just read this tasty little statement and thought since I am the intrepid blogger/gossip monger that I claim to be that I should print it here so that you, my loyal reader(s), can enjoy:

“We would like to dispel any misperception that there might be any hard feelings between us. Since 1998, we have enjoyed a great relationship, based upon mutual respect and trust. We have always been able to talk and address matters we’ve faced over the years, not just as owner and player, but as friends. We had a long talk today and we want to assure Colts fans everywhere that we are both committed to maintaining our close relationship and to working together through any challenges the future may bring.”

Translation--we acted like idiot children. We see that now, and we have decided to keep the rest of our spat in-house until it is done and over with. Where Peyton will be next year is still up in the air. Stay tuned for more details.

This statement is not a surprise as all. What was surprising was the fact that these guys broke character and spoke to the media in the first place. I wouldn't be surprised if all we heard until the official announcement is about what teams may be interested in him if the Indianapolis Colts do drop him or what Rob Lowe thinks.

Peyton Manning is Done--because Rob Lowe Said So

This time of year is just funny to me. When it comes to the teams that are already out of the running you start hearing all sorts of crap, especially if there is a star or two on the squad that may be getting up there in the years or suffered a major injury that year.

Well, sadly, the curse of the Super Bowl hosts struck the Colts this year and we are not only out of the running, but we have an aging superstar that is recovering from major surgery whose return is in question.

I'm talking about Peyton Manning of course.

It would not be shocking for their to be all sorts of rumors about Peyton in the near future, especially as the draft draws near. With the Polian's gone, Jim Caldwell unemployed, and a new general manager that has yet to form any loyalty other than to the paycheck that Jim Irsay cuts him the potential for some crazy Colts rumors is there.

And thanks to Rob Lowe (who happens to be close to Jim Irsay) we have one.

The guy that did his best work in Sex, Lies and Videotape, the Outsiders, About Last Night, Class and St. Elmo's Fire let the word spill on his Twitter feed to his 230,000+ followers that he had heard that Peyton was going to be hanging up his cleats for good.

Of course, since than Peyton's Dad (who has said more than enough about his sons to the media in recent weeks) and his agent have come out to say that the rumor is false.

There is absolutely no reason to think that whatever Rob Lowe has to say about Peyton Manning is true. It is kind of funny that he has caused this little disruption though. However, I feel it is necessary to point one thing out. Throughout the whole saga that has been Peyton Manning and his neck injury, whenever a rumor was leaked it ended up being true.

Who knows Sports Fans; Rob Lowe could have another career as a sports journalist...
