After watching the Colts/Redskins game Friday night I sat down at my computer and tried to write a post on the game. All I could think about though was Adam Sandler in the Water Boy saying something like, “My momma said; my…my…momma said that people that don’t have nothing nice to say just need a little sunshine in their hearts.”
When he started to say that they (people that have nothing nice to say) are the devil I knew it was time to go to bed.
After a good night’s rest I remembered something. The Colts have never had the best of luck during the preseason.
The last time the Colts won a preseason game was the second contest of the season in 2009. During the 2006 Super Bowl season they only won one as well. Five of the last six seasons they won the division; in that same time frame they won just four preseason games.
So if there is any team that has proven that the preseason does not matter it is the Colts.
What does matter though is the health of one Peyton Manning. When Jim Irsay, who had been saying that Peyton was fine and would be ready by time the season starts, said the team may have to do without him for a couple weeks—the Colts Nation gasped in disbelief.
What had to be more concerning is that he asked the fans for their thoughts on who they should try to get.
Images of Bobby Boucher immediately popped back into my head when I heard that:
“My momma said that Mr. Irsay being nice to the fans because he has a rainbow inside him that is trying to get out of him.”
